take out box
last night at mercato in philly they boxed our food on the way out. it was those foil bottom and paper top kind of temporary containers that are secured by folding the sides of the foil over the paper. when i checked the bag back in dc they had written “his” on mine and “hers” on kristin’s. this was such an easy and effective way to communicate which box i should...

thai adventure
the air conditioning in our favorite neighborhood thai restaurant was broken tonight, and there’s no way i could eat something with three red chili peppers next to the title when it was above 85F. so we settled for the old siam around the corner on 8th street instead. while the interior was brighter and more bustling, the tv behind the bar was tuned to the lifetime channel and the tables...

power outage = near apocalypse in SE this morning. all the restaurants, bars, and bodegas are closed on penn ave and my building (the one with no fire escape or working smoke detectors) actually became even more of a fire hazard without lighting in the stairs. hope i can salvage...
